Yerba Mate

Yerba Mate, also known as "Jesuit tea," is a plant of the holly family. Roasted then pulverized, its leaves can be consumed as an infusion for a stimulating beverage with a herbaceous and slightly bitter taste.

The mate infusion has been greatly appreciated in South America for a long time. The first to use it was the indigenous Guaranis in Bolivia, Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina. Nowadays, this plant is gaining popularity all over the world.

How to prepare Yerba Mate? The traditional preparation of this plant is unique. A mate kit consists of a calabash, called mate, and a "bombilla" (silver straw with a filter at the end). The "bombilla" and the yerba are placed in the mate, filling the mate at least halfway with yerba. Then pour hot water at about 80 degrees Celsius, taste and adjust if necessary, and leave to brew for 24 hours. Afterward, drain and rinse the mate.

Zyo offers you high-quality Yerba Mate. Try it in its original version or with citrus fruits with our lemon and orange Yerba Mate. Enjoy it hot or on ice for an invigorating drink.

Enjoy the benefits of Yerba Mate with our premium infusions. Thanks to its high caffeine content, this infusion has energizing properties; it stimulates the central nervous system, fights fatigue, and improves cognitive performance.
